This symposium is open for all junior and senior high school students.

Four expert scientists are invited to the symposium as resource speakers to share their knowledge on their field of expertise. These are: Academician Rex Victor O. Cruz, an expert in watershed management and climate change; Academician Arnel N. del Barrio, a leading scientist in the field of ruminant nutrition; Academician Mudjekeewis Santos, a foremost scientist in marine ecosystem; and Academician Eufemio T. Rasco Jr., a plant breeder and former science administrator. The event will be moderated by Dr. Reynante L. Ordonio of the Philippine Rice Research Institute, a 2021 Outstanding Young Scientist awardee.

The virtual Symposium for the Youth started in the year 2020 in partnership with the DOST Regional Offices. It is an adaptive effort of the NAST PHL to continue to convey information and encourage the young minds in the pursuit of a science career path. ScienTeach is a collection of episodes that highlights varying topics featuring National Scientists, NAST Members and its awardees who are accomplished in their respective fields. It utilizes online platforms while obtaining the objectives of the traditional lecture series, which are to: 1) promote science and technology, 2) bring our scientists closer to the youth, and 3) inspire and encourage the students to pursue a career in science.

The NAST PHL is an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology and is dedicated to embark on projects and programs designed to promote scientific productivity and in fostering excellence in the field of science and technology in the country.
