The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has opening for the following position:
Position Title : Science Research Specialist II

Salary/Salary Grade : ₱39,672.00 per month/SG-16
 
Qualification Requirements:
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job
  • Experience : One (1) year relevant experience
  • Training : Four (4) hours relevant training
  • Eligibility : Career Service – Professional/Second Level Eligibility
 
Competencies/Skills Required:
  1. Analytical/Assessment skill (ability to learn, adapt, and formulate a research issue, including the capacity to work in an interdisciplinary environment)
  2. Program Planning Skills (ability to develop program goals and objectives; ability to gather the information that can be used by the experts in making policies, programs, and activities)
  3. Effective Communication (ability to communicate in writing and orally with linguistic and cultural proficiency; Suggest approaches for disseminating information; Convey data and information to professionals and the public using a variety of approaches; Facilitate communication among individuals, groups, and organizations)
  4. Cultural Competency Skills (ability to recognize the contribution of diverse perspectives in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and services that affect the Academy)
  5. Editing and publishing competency (Knowledge of editing, publishing, and distribution methods, standards, and practices; Knowledge of established reference manuals and guidelines; Knowledge of basic copyright law; Ability to apply rules of English usage to correct grammatical and writing errors; Ability to aid in maintaining up-to-date writing/editing standards and guidelines)
  6. Financial Planning and Management Skills (Ability to contribute to the development of program budgets; Describe program performance standards and measures)
  7. Library Management (Familiar with the concepts and issues related to the lifecycle of recorded knowledge and information; maintenance of collections, including preservation and conservation)
 
Duties/Position Description:
  • Do necessary actions to maintain and fulfill obligations under the existing collaborations with other science academies and organizations as well as research possible new collaborations.
  • Act as the managing editor of the Transactions NAST PHL who will assist in planning, assigning, and editing content; overseeing spending; commissioning writers; overseeing production schedules and editorial calendars.
  • Attend to the needs of the NAST Publications Committee related to publications of monographs, research works of NAST members, NAST bulletins, and proceedings of scientific meetings, RTDs, and fora.
  • Organize and be in charge of advocacy-related events like policy fora, speaker’s bureau, and the like.
  • Prepare reports from the presentations and discussions of said activities for consideration of the focal persons, concerned committees, or divisions.
  • Do research as necessary or additional input after the conduct of advocacy-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

  3. Performance rating in the last rating period (certified true copy of the original by the agency HRMO)
  4. Photocopy of the certificate of CSC eligibility/PRC license;
  5. Photocopy of transcript of records and diploma;
  6. Photocopy of certificate of training/s; and
  7. Photocopy of certificate of employment.
