The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), will hold virtually the awarding ceremony of the 2021 DOST Intellectual Property Awards on December 06, 2021, Monday.
A total of 107 scientific publications will be awarded with the International Publication Award (IPA), which came from 10 DOST agencies, namely: DOST Regional Office No. 2, Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI), Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), and Science Education Institute (SEI).
A total of 45 utility models will be awarded the Utility Model Registration Award, which came from the FNRI, FPRDI, ITDI, PTRI, and Metals Industry Research and Development Council (MIRDC).
The IPA awardees increased by 8%, while UM has reached 144% increase in awardees this year. These numbers manifest the success of the program in encouraging the DOST research institutes and other DOST agencies to publish in refereed journals and in registering their developed technologies.
Awardees of the IPA will receive a certificate of recognition and cash incentive to each publication published in Clarivate Analytics or Scopus listed journals while Php 15,000.00 will be given to registered utility models. The DOST institutions with the highest number of publications and utility model registration will receive a cash incentive of Php 50,000.00.
