The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) won second place for the Agency Category at the recently concluded Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Gender and Development (GAD) Mainstreaming Awards 2024. The awarding ceremony occurred on November 30, 2024, at the Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City, during the 10th-year celebration of the DOST GAD Focal Point Assembly.
The DOST GAD Mainstreaming Awards recognize DOST’s regional offices, attached agencies, and Philippine Science High School Campuses for their efforts in gender mainstreaming and their cumulative achievements from 2022-2023.
The agencies are evaluated based on the four entry points of the Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework: Policies, People, Enabling Mechanisms, and Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs). A two-stage validation was conducted from October to November 2024 by the DOST GAD Unit and the Philippine Commission on Women. Winners received a plaque and monetary prize.

The NAST PHL remains steadfast in its commitment to mainstreaming gender and development in its programs, projects, and activities.
In 2023, 23.66% of NAST PHL’s agency budget was allocated to GAD initiatives, exceeding the minimum 5% requirement stipulated under RA 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women. This allocation supported activities promoting and recognizing outstanding achievements and accomplishments in science and technology.
Furthermore, NAST PHL also holds annual forums and webinars highlighting the outstanding accomplishments of women across various fields to increase the visibility of women role models in S&T.
