NAST to host Focus Group Discussion on Technology Transfer and Adoption in Agriculture

Taguig City, Philippines—The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) will convene a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to address the challenges and propose solutions in developing, transferring, and adopting modern agricultural technologies.Adopting advanced agricultural technologies is necessary to improve the productivity and efficiency of the country’s agricultural sector. These technologies include gene editing and genetic modification, bio-based inputs such as biofertilizers and biopesticides, advanced crop protection methods, autonomous farming equipment, precision agriculture tools, and cutting-edge digital platforms.
State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and other institutions have been developing such technologies and undertaking similar projects to boost agricultural production. However, many of these breakthroughs remain underutilized due to challenges in effectively transferring them to intended users. Consequently, numerous technologies and resources are left “shelved.

The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) won second place for the Agency Category at the recently concluded Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Gender and Development (GAD) Mainstreaming Awards 2024. The awarding ceremony occurred on November 30, 2024, at the Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City, during the 10th-year celebration of the DOST GAD Focal Point Assembly.
NAST PHL urges the Senate to pass the Philippine Building Act to Enhance National Resilience and Public Safety

TAGUIG CITY — The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), through its Executive Council and the Engineering Sciences and Technology Division, has expressed optimism and urgency for the Senate of the Philippines to pass the proposed Philippine Building Act (PBA) during the current 3rd Regular Session of the 19th Congress.
The Act, which aims to increase the resilience of buildings that are newly proposed or existing against multiple hazards, will consolidate Senate Bills 1181, 1467, and 1970, and HBT 8500 as approved last year by the House of Representatives.
